Elida is a first-generation Mexican-American who brings her cultural background and personal experiences into her work as a therapist. She received her Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she studied Developmental Theory, Family Systems, and the impact of community on wellbeing. During her undergraduate years, Elida also trained mobility service dogs through Illini Service Dogs, gaining hands-on experience with disability support and a deeper understanding of accessibility, ability issues, and the profound role animals play in people’s lives.

Elida went on to earn her Masters in Social Work from the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice at The University of Chicago. She interned for two years at MedVet Hospital, where she supported clients through grief, caregiver stress, and anticipatory loss of pets. Elida worked closely with families on quality-of-life planning for their pets and helped develop community outreach initiatives to connect patients with needed resources during times of crisis. Elida also worked at PAWS Chicago, where she supported families navigating the emotional and financial challenges of surrendering a pet.

In her free time, Elida enjoys playing Minecraft and Animal Crossing to relax and unwind. She loves spending time outdoors with her dogs, Daisy and Fresa, and often draws and colors for creative self-expression.
